A two-minute's silence was held at 11am at the St Neots War Memorial today (Sunday) to mark Remembrance.
The clock on St Mary's Parish chimed 11 times as war veterans, local dignitaries, members of the Royal British Legion, scouts, cubs guides and members of the armed forces, as well as a huge crowd stood in silence.
Under a grey sky, with a chill in the air, wreaths were laid at the town's 99-year-old war memorial, by St Neots MP Ian Sollom, St Neots Mayor, Cllr Richard Slade, Cllr Stephen Ferguson, representing Huntingdonshire District Council and members of various groups, including cubs and guides.
All the names on the war memorial were read out and the Last Post was played.
Earlier, there was a parade through the town and a service at the church. The Rev Paul Hutchinson said he hoped everyone "would work for peace in a very troubled world".
There were hymns, prayers and readings. There was also a service at the Polish War Graves at St Neots Cemetery at midday.
