A Huntingdonshire care home is set to be knocked down and rebuilt as a care centre after a planning application was given the green light.
The Rheola Care Home, which is operated by the care home provider Excelcare, is set to be knocked down and turned into a 56-bed nursing and residential care centre in the town.
Huntingdonshire District Council approved the plans at the end of October.
The new site on Broad Lees, St Ives, would see different units specialising in dementia care, nursing care and residential care.
The number of jobs at the premises are also set to increase. At the moment, there are 25 full-time and 14 part-time members of staff.
The new building would see 29 full-time and 27 part-time staff members employed.
The new, modern facilities set for St Ives are supported by both Cambridgeshire County Council and St Ives Town Council. The development promises to be in keeping with the architecture across St Ives.
The planning application was granted on the condition that the building work commence within three years of the approval.
