An 87-year-old prisoner from HMP Littlehey is understood to have died from Alzheimer’s dementia, an inquest opening has revealed.
David Worrell died earlier this month on November 3 at the prison, the brief hearing at Peterborough Town Hall revealed.
Simon Milburn, an area coroner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, explained the cause of death proposed by the prison GP was Alzheimer's dementia.
The case - which was opened today (Thursday) - has now been adjourned for an inquest on April 28, 2025.

At the hearing, it was not revealed why Mr Worrell was serving a prison sentence and where he originally came from.
However, HMP Littlehey is a Category C male prison and only holds those who have been convicted of sex offences.
The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will also carry out an investigation which is a standard procedure for all prisoner deaths.
