A 34-year-old man was pepper sprayed by police after a neighbour heard him assaulting his girlfriend.
Aaron Diiuorio was abusing his girlfriend inside of a property in Howell Drive, Sapley, Huntingdon, at around 3am on April 15.
A neighbour heard the commotion and called the police. They arrived at the scene but Diiuorio refused them entry, so they sprayed him with PAVA (pepper spray) and got inside.
The abuser tried to escape out of the window but was restrained and arrested. His victim told officers that she "got hit all the time" and they noticed some marks on her neck and bruises on her arm.
On Monday (November 11), at Cambridge Crown Court, Diiuorio, of Hurstingstone, St Ives, was jailed for three months having pleaded guilty to common assault.
DC Steve Surtees said: "Diiuorio’s behaviour towards his girlfriend was vile so I’m glad he’s been jailed.
"Tackling domestic abuse is a force priority and we will do all we can to help put offenders behind bars."
