It was an impressive night for Black Cat Radio at the Community Radio Awards in Cardiff.
The team saw double gold success at the event on Saturday, November 16 and the proceedings were co-hosted by last year’s Male Presenter of the Year, Ste Greenall, from the St Neots based station.
The past winner of best female presenter Fiona McNeill, of Dunoon Community Radio, in Scotland, announced Tony’s success saying that he "clearly is passionate about radio and seeing his station thrive, with a wealth of experience and knowledge."
There was a nomination in the Speech and Journalism Category for the work Nigel Pauley did to highlight the campaigning by Liz Owen, of Access for St. Neots.
Liz campaigns for better accessibility in St Neots, and recently opened up the Changing Places facility at Riverside Park.
Nigel and Brian, who worked along with many of the Black Cat Radio team at the St Neots Festival, proudly collected the top prize for Outside Broadcast of the Year.
The broadcast was described as "an entry with a show plan on another level, with vivid descriptions of the event, voices from across the weekend, a smattering of live music and positive on the day feedback."
Brian paid tribute to the Neotists group who created the festival.
Nigel, who was new to radio two years ago, took the opportunity to praise the legacy of the late Ernie Almond, who had given him encouragement and guidance.
Ernie Almond was a familiar voice on Black Cat Radio until his death in 2023.
The station has now collected eight national awards in four years and listeners have been quick to send congratulations on the station’s social media platforms.
