As November draws to a close and we welcome in December, many Huntingdonshire towns are preparing for their Christmas light switch on events in 2024.
St Ives have kickstarted the festive celebrations after they held their Christmas festivities on November 16. The lights were switched on, a Christmas market was held and performers, as well as Santa, made a special appearance.
Several other towns across the district are gearing up to hold their own festivities. Take a look at some of the planned events down below:
Huntingdon
From Friday, November 22 until Sunday, November 24, there will be a Huntingdon Christmas Market taking place in the centre of the town.
At 6.30pm on November 22, the Christmas lights will be switched on by the Mayor of Huntingdon, Councillor Karl Brockett, and local gold medal winning gymnast, Sol Scott.
Local primary schools, dance and theatre groups will be taking to the stage across the weekend, as well as various festive stall holders.
Ramsey
Ramsey will be hosting a Christmas lights switch on event on Saturday, November 23 with a special appearance from a former EastEnders actor.
From midday, festivities will begin in the centre of the town with performances from local groups. At 5.45pm, the Christmas lights will be turned on by Santa, Anna and Elsa and Ricky Groves, who played Gary Hobbs.
Godmanchester
The Christmas lights will be switched on in Godmanchester on at 5pm on Friday, December 6, with plenty of festive market stalls on offer too.
The event will take place in Post Street. Choirs from St Anne's School, The Bridge, The Community and Cromwell Academies and Hinchingbrooke School Community Choir, as well as a performance from the Coleman Academy.
St Neots
On Sunday, November 24, St Neots Town Council will be turning on the Town Council Christmas trees at 5pm. The council is encouraging residents and businesses across the area to turn theirs on at the same time.
There will be Christmas trees in Loves Farm, Eynesbury, Eaton Ford and Eaton Socon, and Black Cat Radio will be broadcasting the Mayor of St Neots, Councillor Richard Slade, as he travels round the community on the day.
