A drunk driver who drove round a roundabout the wrong way into the path of Cambridgeshire Police has lost his licence.
The force's Road Policing Unit were on patrol on the A1198 on November 3 when James Abogaye caught their eye.
Abogaye was driving a red Land Rover Discovery the wrong way round a roundabout. He is said to have sat in his vehicle, "looking confused", before reversing and driving the correct way.
However, officers suspected something was not right and pulled over the 52-year-old in Ermine Way, Godmanchester.
Abogaye, of Beech Close, Huntingdon, blew 105 at the roadside, three times the legal limit of 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath. He failed to provide an evidential sample in custody.
At Cambridge Magistrates' Court on Monday (November 18), Abogaye was disqualified from driving for three years after pleading guilty to failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
PC Sam Shepherd, from the Road Policing Unit, said: "It is lucky that Abogaye didn’t cause an accident that evening.
"For anyone who considers getting behind the wheel after drinking because they think they can get away with it, just remember that police officers could be anywhere.
"We also encourage members of the public to call in suspected drink and drug drivers."
Cambridgeshire Constabulary operates a confidential, 24/7 hotline to report suspected drink or drug drivers on 0800 032 0845.
