A manhunt has been been launched after a paedophile failed to attend a hearing at which he was sentenced to nearly three years in jail.

Hilmi Kisacik, 44, was convicted of sexual offences after speaking with what he thought was a 14-year-old girl on Facebook Messenger between March 3 and April 21.

The person was a decoy from an online child activist group.

Despite being told the decoy was a 14-year-old girl, Kisacik sent inappropriate photos of himself and others, encouraged the decoy to touch herself inappropriately and asked her for photographs of herself.

The online child activist group arrived at Kisacik’s home in Ely on April 26 to confront him and alert officers who arrested him.

Kisiak was released on court bail following a pre-trial hearing in July and an arrest warrant was issued for him in August when he failed to attend another hearing.

He also didn't turn up to his trial.

On Friday (November 22), at Cambridge Crown Court, Kisacik, of Fore Hill, Ely, was jailed for 32 months in his absence, having been found guilty of two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and attempting to cause/incite a girl to engage in sexual activity.
