A Huntingdonshire town's Christmas tree is back up and running after a wine bottle was found inside, causing the tree to topple down.

On November 24, one day after the town's Christmas lights switch on, the organisers behind the event were forced to take the Christmas tree down after a wine bottle was discovered inside the structure.

Adela Costello, Chair of Ramsey Christmas Lights, said: "A person or persons decided to create a hole by moving branches to gain access to the centre of the tree.

"In doing this they also moved sandbags that weighted down the frame. A bottle of wine, ¾ empty was left there.

"The removal of the sandbags placed the tree in a vulnerable position, susceptible to the wind, with the unfortunate result."

Adela added: "This is a very disappointing outcome for the committee and people of Ramsey."

However, on November 26, the tree was put back up and the town is once again shining bright.
