More than 200 homes in a Huntingdonshire village are without electricity this afternoon after a 'fault' with an overhead power line.
UK Power Networks said it became aware of the outage in Fenstanton at around 12:40pm.
It has since confirmed power was switched off remotely "in the interest of public safety" after an overhead line was found on the ground.
A spokesperson said engingeers were working to repair the line so power can be restored to 225 properties.
They said: "The incident originally interrupted power supplies to 1,297 customers at about 12.45pm and most were restored within four minutes.
"We apologise for the inconvenience caused."
Five post code areas are currently impacted, with properties in and around Fenstanton, Hemingford Grey, Hemingford Abbots, Swavesey and Papworth Everard left without power.
Properties in South Cambridgeshire have also been affected, including in Elsworth, Knapwell and Boxworth.
An update posted on the company's website said: "We’re sorry for any disruption this may have caused you.
"We didn’t know in advance there would be a power cut, but now that we know, our teams will do everything they can to get your power back quickly.
"Engineers in our control room have switched some customers power back on in your area.
It added: "To get everyone’s power back on we may need to attend to investigate and make repairs. We’ll continue to update you until everyone’s power is back on."
Engineers have estimated that power will be restored between 4.30pm and 5.30pm, although this is subject to change.
