A Cambridgeshire man has launched a fundraiser to help him complete items on his bucket list following his terminal cancer diagnosis.

Jonathan Clayton, from Chatteris, is living with terminal cancer. He has cancer in his tonsil, lymph nodes and both of his lungs.

He was diagnosed in March 2023 and was told he had a prognosis of a few months to a year.

However, a year and eight months on from his diagnosis, Jonathan said that he has “made friends with time”, and now he and his wife Rebecca are ticking items off his bucket list.

The pair are fundraising for the ultimate trip to celebrate their second wedding anniversary – to travel to Singapore and have a Singapore Sling cocktail at the Raffles Hotel.

He has also written an essay about living with terminal cancer. He said that while people call him “stoic and brave”, he said he must accept his diagnosis and try and “concentrate on other things”.

He added: “Day to day I try to carry on. I try to have a normal life to help me to feel normal.

“I want to look after my wife, Rebecca, and the dogs, and do household jobs and DIY, but I am not normal.

“All day and all night my dying body is fighting three different types of cancer, and I get tired, and things hurt.”

Jonathan has been undergoing trials at the Royal Marsden Chelsea Hospital, and is now hosting a raffle to raise money for the hospital.
