Huntingdon Community Radio station manager Bill Hensley brings us his last column of the year.
HCR104fm is excited to invite you to its Christmas Open Day on Saturday, December 7 at the Saxongate Studios, High Street, Huntingdon (please use the rear of the building to gain entrance).
From 10am to 4pm, join us for a day of great company, and a chance to experience the magic of local radio.
This special event is a great opportunity to meet the voices behind the station as our presenters host live shows and share holiday cheer.
Visitors can even step into the studio to record their very own Christmas message, which will be broadcast throughout December.
To add to the festivities, complimentary tea, coffee, juice, and seasonal treats will be available. Whether you’re a regular listener or just curious about HCR104FM, the Open Day is free and open to all, making it a perfect outing for friends and family.
So pop along, meet the team, enjoy some festive treats, and find out how you can be part of something truly meaningful. We look forward to welcoming you!
We’re also calling on the community to get involved in another local tradition: the Huntingdon Carnival committee.
Organising the annual carnival two-day event is a collaborative effort, and we’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join the team.
If you’re passionate about strengthening community ties and want to find out more, please call Bill Hensley on: 07767 823424 or email: bill.hensley@hcrfm.co.uk.
As Christmas is coming, expect to hear more Christmas songs being played on the radio. Maybe you have a favourite? If so, why not ring in to the studio on Sundays between 12pm and 2pm for Family Favourites? The number is: 01480 727104, or email: studio@hcrfm.co.uk. Dave Shepherd presents, along with Lee Blake, who will also be out and about locally getting requests!
And on Christmas Eve at 7pm, we will be broadcasting a special programme of carols and readings by some of our volunteer members.
We hope you will be able to tune in to 'carols of the air' and experience the Christmas story in word and song.
Oh - and our radio pantomime Aladdin and the Golden Goose will be broadcast on Sunday, December 22 at 4pm.
This is produced by our Head of Drama Sue Rodwell Smith who heads up Wavelengths, our Drama Unit. It promises to be fun! Listen out for a repeat too, on New Year’s Day!
We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a healthy new year.
