Mick Pescod and Ged Dempsey, co-founders of The 3 Pillars charity, spoke to The Hunts Post about how they operate the charity.

They have a lock-up is in Steel Close, Eaton Socon, and there they store donated items that are due to be given out to people in need.

The Hunts Post and Black Cat Radio presenter, Ste Greenall, visited the lock-up to take a behind the scenes look at the work the charity does as part of our joint Christmas Appeal.

(Image: Newsquest) We caught the charity on a busy Thursday morning, as they prepared to deliver food parcels, for single people and families, in Loves Farm, Eynesbury and Wintringham.

The team of volunteers at The 3 Pillars complete around 35 food drops a day, which equals out to around 200 drops a week.

There is more to it than dropping food off, however. The volunteers spend their time speaking to recipients of the food parcels, which is something that co-founder Ged Dempsey described as "essential".

Toni Bourne, volunteers with the charity every Thursday. She said that one of the best parts of volunteering is seeing that no food goes to waste.

She added: "There are so many families out there struggling, but this weekly help, however small, gives them a boost.

"Older people love to chat with us, and they're so appreciative of what we do. It's nice to meet people from all walks of life."
