A steel fabricator and supplier has opened a new trade counter in Huntingdon, offering “a one-stop shop for all things metal”.
Merchant Steel Solutions (MSS) was founded in 2020 by Kevin Rayner and David Biddle, who were later joined by Michael Rayner. Their mission was to bring back the “old-style steel merchants” that were missing in the town.
The team originally worked out of a small unit in Buckden, with a focus on supplying steel sections, welding and fabricating steel frame structures and builders’ beams, as well as bespoke projects.
In 2022, the company obtained UKCA accreditation, giving customers peace of mind that it was regulated to produce steel to the highest level.
The business continued to expand throughout 2023, culminating in the recent launch of its trade counter at the Stukeley Meadows Industrial Estate on Blackstone Road.
David said the trade counter promises to be “the go-to destination” for cut-to-size steel, sheet materials, bespoke gates and railings, lintels, steel mesh, aluminium sections and aluminium plate.
It also offers a comprehensive range of builders and engineering hardware, fixings and fasteners, as well as welding gas with a one-off bottle deposit.
