Senior and junior runners at Huntingdonshire Athletics Club (HAC) have continued their fine form this season with another impressive team victory in the Frostbite Friendly League.
Both the Seniors and Juniors travelled to Priory Park in St Neots on December 11 for the third cross-country league race of the season and came away with emphatic victories.
The Frostbite Friendly League is a series of six "closed" running races for senior and junior runners from 16 road-running clubs based mainly around the Peterborough and Cambridgeshire area.
Out of the 19 HAC juniors who raced, 13 finished in the top 19 out of a total of 82 runners.
Committee member at HAC, Wayne Dubose, said: "The fact that there were 13 Hunts AC juniors finishing in the top 19 in the race is pretty amazing."
The seniors tasted similar success, with seven HAC runners breaking into the top 16 out of 343 competitors, helping to ensure HAC secured their third team double victory in a row.
Noah Scott-Donkin led from the front in the junior race with his third win, triumphing by a four-second margin, with Rebecca Smith picking up her first-ever win for the Junior Girls by 28 seconds.
The junior team are defending champions and have won the title six years in a row.
Isaac Ellard romped home in the seniors by 78 seconds meaning the Seniors stay top of the league standings and are also on track to defend their title for the third year in a row as the league enters the midway point of the season.
The senior races are all between five and six miles, and the junior races are less than 1.5 miles, with the scoring based on the finish position of each team's first 10 seniors and first five juniors to finish.
A spokesperson for the Frostbite Friendly League said: "Many thanks to Sam and the team at Riverside for another excellent race in far different conditions than we normally expect at Priory Park.
"It has to be said that the scores after three races are quite close and all to play for as we go into the 2nd half of the series."
The seniors and juniors remain top of the standings and will hope to keep up the good running form for the league's next race hosted by March Athletics Club on January 15.
