Huntingdonshire Athletics Club (HAC) Athletes have enjoyed a fantastic weekend representing Cambridgeshire at the 92nd English Schools Track and Field Championships.
Tom Waterworth was the standout performer, emphatically winning the Intermediate Boys 800-metre race, paced tactically to perfection.
Following his win, Tom was rewarded with his first national vest and will represent England at the School International Athletics Board competition in Scotland in two weeks.
Fellow HAC athlete Sophie Bambridge won a bronze medal in the Senior Girls Long Jump with a 6.02-metre leap that smashed her personal best by 43cm.
A spokesperson for HAC said: "Even qualifying for this competition is a big deal, so to win a medal is very special.
"Many competitors at the English Schools' Athletics Championships have gone on to win individual Olympic and World Championship medals, including multiple gold medallists Mo Farah, Jessica Ennis-Hill, Kelly Holmes and Greg Rutherford.
"Hunts AC is immensely proud of all of the club's athletes who made it to the English Schools Championships."

Seven athletes from HAC were at the school games in Birmingham from June 30 to July 1, competing against thousands of athletes from all 48 counties in England.
Most clubs' athletes do not win any medals, let alone two, demonstrating incredible success for HAC.
Other HAC athletes, Moria Howard, who narrowly finished fourth in the Intermediate Girls Triple Jump, Noah Scott-Donkin, Oliver Loveday, Dominic Pauley, and Oli Albone, all put in great performances for the county.
