Eynesbury Rovers First Team match report for January 20 (UCL Premier Division South) against Coventry United.
Eynesbury Rovers have now gone nine matches without a win as they went down 4-2 on the artificial surface at the Butts Park Arena, Coventry.
Despite holding United to a draw at half time the hosts scored three second-half goals before a stoppage time own goal gave Rovers their second goal.
The hosts took a 14th minute lead when Joe Blowers set up Joe Agunbiade in the penalty area and his shot took a deflection past Caleb Chandler.
Chandler saved from Agunbiade three minutes later before Marcel Rzeszutek had Eynesbury’s first goal attempt when he cut in from the right wing but his shot from a tight angle was put behind for a corner by Harvey Randle in the Coventry goal.
Cameron Saunders tried his luck with a 20 yard shot but it went harmlessly wide.
At the other end Joe Blowers looked the most likely threat but twice he shot wide and he was denied by Chandler with another attempt which the young goalkeeper pushed behind for a corner.
However, in the 42nd minute Eynesbury drew level when Chris Khoo’s free kick from the left was diverted home at the near post by Max Kimpton, his first goal for the club.
On the stroke of half time Rovers suffered the blow of losing Rzeszutek to injury and he was replaced with Mark Ansell-Carter.
In the 58th minute Coventry regained the lead when Dan Cassidy headed home a right wing cross.
Then seven minutes later Stanley Dube was allowed time and space to run at the Rovers defence before beating Chandler with a low drive to make it 3-1.
In the 85th minute United added a fourth when Felix Donker scored with his first touch of the ball on his Coventry debut as he guided the ball home from close range from a corner.
Ryan Wood and Josh Sugden made their Eynesbury debuts from the bench and Sugden was involved in their 92nd minute second goal when his header was headed past his own goalkeeper by Adam Miles.
Final Score: Coventry United 4 - Eynesbury Rovers 2
The return fixture is at Hall Road on January 27, but before then Rovers hosts St Ives Town in the Hunts Senior Cup semi-final on Tuesday, January 23. Kick-off is a 7.45pm.
