Match Report: St Neots Town 3 - Eynesbury Rovers 0
The UCL Premier Division South game between St Neots Town and Eynesbury Rovers ended in a much-needed win for Saints.
St Neots confirmed their slot in the end-of-season play-offs with a comprehensive win over neighbours Eynesbury Rovers to leave their visitors still under relegation threat.
All three goals came in a golden spell of 12 minutes and helped to dispel the memory of the month of March where St Neots had scored just three goals in four home league fixtures.
Despite the defeat, Rovers remain in 17th place, five points clear of the relegation zone with just three fixtures remaining. Meanwhile the win for the Saints confirmed their place in the promotion play-offs in front of a bumper crowd of 779 on a sunny bank holiday Monday afternoon.
The game was goal-less at the break with Rovers’ best chances falling to Marcel Rzeszutek and Fraelias Mienambolo.
St Neots took control in the second half, and on the hour mark, just moments after an Adrian O’Hara volley was saved, they broke clear and Nabil Shariff, who had only been on the pitch for three minutes, fired the hosts ahead.
Eight minutes later Furlong was on target this time to make it 2-0 and in the 71st minute a Bowen looping header from a Dammy Nickels deep free kick concluded the scoring.
Next up for Eynesbury is a home league fixture against Daventry Town on Saturday, April 6, kick-off 3pm
