Match Report: Eynesbury Rovers v Rugby Borough (UCL Premier Division South) on Saturday, April 13.
Eynesbury Rovers finished the season with a thrilling win over Rugby Borough.
After taking the lead three times and being pegged back by the visitors on each occasion they finally netted the winning goal four minutes from time when substitutes James Hall fired home.
After Fraelias Mienambolo had two efforts go wide Rovers took a 15th minute lead when the striker squared the ball across the penalty area for Charlee Yearwood to bundle the ball home for his first goal for the club.
After Rovers’ keeper Caleb Chandler saved a low shot from Michael Blair he was beaten by a lobbed effort in the 36th minute by Halim Halim as the visitors drew level. An Owen Dixon shot was well saved by Jake Bull in the Rugby goal as the sides went in level at the break.
Just two minutes into the second half Eynesbury retook the lead with a solo run and shot by Mienambolo, his third goal in five appearances.
Both teams exchanged chances but Sam Jackson volleyed wide and Michael Blair was denied by Chandler, whilst for Eynesbury James Hall and Charlee Yearwood both shot wide of goal. However, in the 64th minute Rugby made it 2-2 when Sam Lockley headed home a deep cross at the back post.
Rovers went ahead again in the 77th minute through Brady Baffour, who had replaced Marcel Rzeszutek eleven minutes earlier. Yearwood’s header came off the crossbar only for Brady to net the loose ball. But Rugby would not lie down as substitute Jack Barnett dispossessed Chandler outside of the penalty area and rolled the ball home to make it 3-3.
Rovers were not finished though as James Hall netted the 86th minute winning goal that secured the win and moved Eynesbury up to 17th place in the league table.
Final Score: Eynesbury Rovers 4 Rugby Borough 3
