St Ives Rugby Club hosted a six-hour marathon touch rugby fixture on Sunday in aid of charity, writes Paul Cox.

"What a way to bring down the curtain on the touch ugby season at St Ives RUFC.

The club had undertaken the challenge of participating in the SOHK Charity’s six-hour game of touch rugby. Exactly what it says on the tin - a six-hour sponsored game of tough rugby – rolling subs allowed.

The sun, so long missing from our summer, decided to bless the event beaming down on all in attendance. The participants ranged from the very young through to the more senior; members of the women’s and men’s sides; current and former coaches also making an appearance.

Everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed the day, people dropping in throughout, whether it was for the full duration or just for an hour or so.

There will be many sore bodies especially for those who managed to be involved in the game for most of the six hours. (There were a few)

The event proved a huge success with a substantial amount raised for the charity, which gives 50 per cent of the funds raised back to the club,  we will be passing 50 per cent of this to The Cancer Club.

No rugby knowledge or ability is required, this is truly a family and community event, so why not join us when we start the clock in 2025?

More information about the club and how to get involved is available on the club's website and Facebook pages."
