Team GB proved superior at the Tang Soo Do World Championships in North Carolina over the weekend of July 12/13.

The GB team included students from the St Ives and Huntingdon clubs.

The renowned event - which occurs every two years - drew competitors from more than 1400 Tang Soo Do practitioners from around the globe.

Team GB showcased exceptional skills and expertise to clinch multiple victories across the three specific elements of this traditional Korean martial art: Weapons, Forms and Sparring.

Among the standout Team GB performances were Mariyam Islam (Junior Red Tag Belt) – who hails from the Cambourne Ladies Tang Soo Do, Jack Humphries (Junior Blue Belt), Jeffery Amrich (Junior Black Belt) and Selina Kumari (Senior Blue Belt), each of whom secured three gold medals across all elements, to be crowned 2024 World Grand Champions for their respective divisions.

As the championship ended, results we totalled and Team GB achieved a fantastic medal haul of 38 golds, 31 silvers, 48 bronze and four Grand Champion Cups from a squad of 64 competitors, underscoring their status as one of the most formidable teams in the world of Tang Soo Do.
