Huntingdon Boat Club clocked has clocked up several wins at the Sudbury Regatta (August 3) and St Neots Regatta (July 27/28), writes Sarah Adair.
There were two wins for the club at the July event. Daniel Grant, Edward Adams, Ethan Gold and Maksim Marjanovic won open coxless quads on the Saturday racing over 1000 metres.
Also rowing on the Saturday were Tom Hancock, Jack Bennett, Ollie Burgess, Will Manchett, coxed by Daniel Grant, in J15 coxed quads.
Alice Ray and Mark Smith in mixed masters double sculls. On Sunday, over a shorter sprint course of 500 metres, Alice Ray won women’s masters C single sculls. James Johnson-Keay also raced in J14 single sculls. Hancock and Manchett raced in J15 double sculls.
At the Sudbury event, racing over a distance of 650 metres, Edward Adams, Toby Ray, Ethan Gold and Daniel Grant won the open coxless quads, beating London Otters in the final.
Adams, Ray, Gold and Grant teamed up with Mark Smith, Noah Scott-Donkin, Tom Starling, Maksim Marjanovic to win the open men’s eights event- this was raced over a distance of 350 metres with Ollie Shepherd coxing.
Starling and Marjanovic won the open double sculls against Peterborough. Mark Smith and Iain Rickerby raced in masters double sculls to win against London Otters.
Alice Ray won her semi final in women’s Masters C single sculls and went on to win against Bedford Rowing Club.
Jack Bennett and Ollie Burgess won the J15 double sculls event beating Isle of Ely. Toby Ray had a straight final in J18 single sculls winning against Cantabrigian Rowing Club.
Other’s rowing on the day making it through to the finals were Rebecca Howard and Ollie Shepherd in a mixed double scull.
Libby Jackson, Evie Ray, Isabella Dovey and Hannah Fitzjohn from Peterborough raced in a WJ18 coxed quad. Ray and Dovey were also in a women’s J16 double scull. Tom Hancock teamed up with Grant in J15 double sculls.
