First Team Match Report: GNG Oadby Town - Eynesbury Rovers (UCL Premier Division South) on August 31. Report by Graham Mills.

Eynesbury Rovers recorded their third consecutive victory, following on from last weekend’s FA Vase success and 1-0 home league win over Histon.

Rovers move up to fifth in the UCL Premier Division South table. Max Kimpton put Rovers ahead to record his first goal of the season whilst Victor Osobu made it 2-0 in the 63rd minute.

However, there was an anxious finish as the visitors were reduced to 10 men after Oliver Brookes picked up a second yellow card in the 77th minute, and seven minutes later Zak Bham pulled a goal back for Oadby. But Rovers held on for their second away league win of the season.

Oadby held the upper hand in the early stages of the match with Farah Abdi heading over and Camen Bhandal shooting straight at Ryan Hunter in the Rovers goal. They came very close in the 27th minute when a shot by Delroy Cikuza hit the bar.

Earlier Max Kimpton had his shot tipped over the bar by Elliot Lawson and Eynesbury came more into the game.

Nathan Mullings was gifted the ball by an Oadby defender but could only shoot wide before Kimpton and Josh Haward-Dobson both had shots deflected behind for corner kicks. However, Kimpton gave Rovers a 38th minute lead beating the keeper with his shot from just inside the penalty area.

Just after the hour mark, Ryan Lewis sent Osobu down the right flank and he shook off the attentions of his marker but fired wide of the near post. A minute later Josh Howard-Dobson worked his way into the Oadby penalty area before seeing Elliot Lawson push away his low drive.

However, the second goal Rovers had been threatening came in the 63rd minute. Leon Fulianty’s free kick was bent around the defensive wall and pushed out by Lawson only for Osobu to pounce and net the loose ball for his sixth goal of the season.
