Huntingdon Piranhas Swimming Club placed third in the final of the Senior Fenland League (SFL) Gala on September 7, writes Anna Huggins.

The final, held at Newmarket Leisure Centre, saw clubs from Ely, St Neots, Mildenhall, March and Huntingdon compete against each other in 50-100 metre events.

This is a competitive league and the swimmers are selected based on swimming times.

The event was well attended by participants as well as supporters. Huntingdon ended the evening in third place with 125 points – a fantastic result seeing how fierce the competition was. Many congratulations to the winners – City of Ely Swimming Club.

The Piranhas placed first seven times, second - five times and achieved third position in 13 races.

The performance of our athletes was magnificent as the swimmers achieved 23 personal best times in 38 individual races.

The evening finished with a spectacular 8x50m Cannon Relay and Huntingdon did not disappoint, placing third.
