St Neots Ladies Rugby Report for game against Stockwood Park Women, report by Bethany Robinson.

After a challenging 23/24 season, St Neots Ladies were rewarded with a 46-15 win in their first league game of the 24/25 season against Stockwood Park Women—a score-line which reflects the hard work the team have put in during pre-season this year.

After nearly 20 minutes of solid attack and defence from both Stockwood Park and the home team; St Neots made a play off the back of an attacking scrum which resulted in scrum-half Chloe White securing Saints their first try on the left wing. The score now 5-0 to Saints.

Stockwood came back fighting and despite tenacious defensive efforts from the Saints side, they were rewarded with their first try of the game levelling the score at 5-5.

After the re-start Saints came back fighting and following a fumbled Stockwood line-out in the 22, Saints seized the opportunity, turned the ball over, moved it wide in a lovely display of hands and were rewarded by Hazel Petch scoring a try on the right wing. 10-5 to Saints.

Only four minutes after the re-start, Saints team had trucked up the pitch with the forward pack carrying strong before backs shipping the ball out wide to the left wing into the hands of Vicky Wilkinson to secure Saints a third try. This was converted by Beth Jordan to bring the score to 17-5.

At half-time, a strong defensive kick-off saw Saints be rewarded with a scrum for a knock-on. Off the back of the scrum, Saints were once again rewarded on the left-wing, this time with Emily Britton securing the points to bring the score to 22-5.

After 10 minutes of solid play from both teams, Saints were awarded a penalty in the middle of the field which saw them move the ball up the pitch before Jordan crashed up between the posts to score her try of the day. The score now 27-5 to the home team.

Stockwood brought the aggression and came back fighting searching for more points to add the board. After a lengthy stint of attack, they were awarded with a try bringing the score to 27-10.

Back for the re-start, and once again, Saints impressive defensive kick-off saw them regain possession of the ball. Following some scrums and swift movement of the ball from Saints, Libby Robinson was rewarded with her first try of the day, converted by Jordan. The score now at 34-10.

Following a break in the game for injury time, the game restarted with a scrum which resulted in Stockwood Park getting their third and final try of the day to bring the score to 34-15.

After another strong defensive kick-off, Robinson made a run from the halfway line to secure her second try of the day which was then converted again by Jordan to bring the score to 41-10.

In the final minute of the game, Saints were awarded their eight and final try of the game scored by Wilkinson to bring the final score to 46-10.

A fantastic day of rugby down at The Common, with the ladies' team starting their season with a bang and hoping to keep this momentum as they continue through the league season.
