First team match report for Great Yarmouth Town v Eynesbury Rovers in the Isuzu FA Vase second qualifying round on Saturday, September 21, from Graham Mills.

Eynesbury Rovers bowed out of the FA Vase on an unseasonably hot day at Eastern Counties League Premier Division side Great Yarmouth Town.

Despite the score line, Rovers had their fair percentage of possession but whilst Yarmouth scored from their few chances created Eynesbury couldn’t find the back of the net.

Matters were not helped when they went behind in the second minute. A free kick on the left by Mitchell Belmar was only cleared to the edge of the box where Charlie Barber hit a low shot into the corner of the goal.

They should have scored again 15 minutes later when a striker knocked the ball pass Reece Lewis and pulled it back for George Couzens but his first time shot missed the target.

The referee dished out three cautions for Eynesbury with Oliver Brooks, Jordan Stevenson and Ryan Lewis all seeing yellow. Rovers first worthy attempt came when Leon Fulianty delivered the ball into the box but Ryan Lewis lifted the ball over the goalkeeper but it landed on the top of the net.

Later a long Dan Hammer throw-in was flicked in at the near post but an attacker headed it wide.

The visitors continued to have the upper hand after the break much to the frustration of the home support in the 263 crowd.

A Rovers free kick was played to Max Kimpton but his low drive was cleared by a defender and later Victor Osobu showed quick feet on the edge of the penalty area but shot wide. Soon after Osobu was alert to intercept a backpass but his near post shot was put behind for a corner by Brandon Ling in the Yarmouth goal.

A quick counter attack presented the hosts with their second goal. A low ball in from the left flank was side-footed home from six yards by Jesse Fenn in the 71st minute.

Four minutes later Rovers were temporarily reduced to ten men when Michael King was sin binned but Yarmouth failed to make their man advantage count. However, they added a third two minutes from time with an 18 yard low shot from Mitchell Belmar.

Final Score: GREAT YARMOUTH TOWN 3 EYNESBURY ROVERS 0
