St Neots Rugby Club claimed an impressive victory in their third league game of the season, triumphing 47-33 away at Brackley.
The result not only demonstrated their resilience and attacking firepower but also sent a strong message as they look ahead to their next fixture.
The Saints started the game with an abundance of possession and territory but struggled to turn early pressure into points.
Brackley took advantage with two breakaway tries, racing to a 14-0 lead within the first 20 minutes.
However, St Neots showed their fighting spirit, hitting back with two well-worked tries, reducing the deficit to just 19-14 by halftime.
The second half saw both teams trading scores, but it was the Saints who began to assert their dominance.
A crucial driving maul led by the forwards allowed Luke Nolan to crash over the line, putting St Neots back in the hunt.
Rory Dingemans was a force to be reckoned with, scoring two tries that propelled the Saints into the lead, with Brackley struggling to contain his pace and power.
Curtis Weaver and Jack Wilkie also made significant contributions with their hard-hitting carries, setting up the perfect platform for Lewis Medlow to barge over for another try.
With momentum firmly in their favour, St Neots sealed the victory in style. They secured the try bonus point and crucially denied Brackley any league points, closing the match with a final score of 47-33.
It was a superb all-round team effort, and the victory leaves Saints in high spirits as they turn their focus to the next fixture against Dunstablians at home on the 12th of October.
With their attack clicking and their defence holding firm under pressure, the Saints will be eager to carry this form forward and continue climbing the league standings.
Alongside the senior action, St Neots hosted both the U12s and U16s Cambs Rugby festival - with twelve teams across the county taking part in the U12s, whilst the U16s went unbeaten against sides from Cambridge, St Ives and Shelford.
The U16 Girls, alongside Cambridge Rugby Club, travelled to Ipswich Rugby Club and won all three of their pool matches.
Vice Chair and Rugby Lead, Will Smith, noted the success across the club: "A busy weekend across the club saw competitive rugby across the spectrum - from the minis through to the Vets.
"Hosting these tournaments is really important helps to put the club at the centre of rugby in west Cambridgeshire."
