Match Report (UCL Premier Division South) on Saturday, October 5: Aylestone Park 3 - Eynesbury Rovers 1.

After their last two matches were postponed Eynesbury Rovers returned to action on the back of their 6-3 home victory over Newport Pagnell with a trip to league leaders Aylestone Park.

Eynesbury took the lead with the first opportunity of the game for either side. Max Kimpton fired in a low shot from the corner of the penalty area, after good work by Nathan Mullings, to give the visitors a 19th minute lead.

However, just two minutes later Aylestone drew level with a run and shot by Sam Hollis. They could have taken the lead a minute later but Corey Bucalossi shot wide after the ball had been pulled back from the bye line.

Eynesbury also had chances to go back in front and in one goal-mouth scramble, both Nathan Mullings and Marcel Rzeszutek had shots blocked.

After Rovers’ keeper Sam Roach kept out a Jack Astill shot Mullings was denied by Liam Castle in the hosts’ goal.

However, Rovers were undone by two goals on the stroke of half time. In the 45th minute following a corner Corey Armeni netted from close range.

Just two minutes later Bucalossi fired the ball home from a tight angle to put Aylestone 3-1 up.

Eynesbury continued to play well in the second half but could not find a way back into the game.

A free kick from the halfway line by Michael King picked out Axel Owusu on the left flank and he set up Victor Osobu on the edge of the box, he made room for the shot but fired over.

Later more Osobu trickery on the edge of the box saw the strikers’ shot hit a defender and go behind for a corner.

Aylestone’s first effort on goal in the second half came from Corey Armeni but his shot flashed wide and later Lee Barratt headed wide from a corner.

They were Aylestone’s only goal attempts whilst Rovers continued to carve out opportunities. A free kick by Aaron Hudson was headed wide at the back post by Oliver Brookes and in stoppage time Liam Castle kept out an Eynesbury shot before Josh Howard-Dobson headed over from six yards a minute later.

Next up for Rovers is the rearranged League KO Cup First Round tie at Deeping Rangers on Tuesday, October, 8, kick-off is 7.45pm.
