Students from two local area World Tang Soo Do clubs recently joined around 300 competitors at the 2024 Great Britain Tang Soo Do Regional Championships.

The event, held this year at the Thornbury Leisure Centre in Bristol, included a full day of competition across three specific elements of Tang Soo Do: Weapons, Forms and Sparring and mixed grade teams forms competition.

"This was the first time the annual championships have been back in Bristol since the pandemic – it was fantastic to see World Tang Soo Do clubs from all over the UK region," said Roger Clark from the club,

Several students from the St Ives and Huntingdon clubs, along with others from surrounding Cambridgeshire area clubs, competed at the event and returned with an impressive haul of trophies across several age groups and belt categories.

Grand Master Khan (8th Degree Grand Master and head of GB Tang Soo Do) said: "It was fantastic to be back in the Southwest of England for this event and to see so many students showing true Tang Soo Do spirit as they competed.

"Again, it is particularly pleasing to see the local St Ives, Huntingdon and surrounding clubs perform so well – as we continue to celebrate 50 years of the St Ives Tang Soo Do Club, which is the oldest Tang Soo Do club in the country.

Winners from St Ives and Huntingdon clubs were: Roger Clark (first in weapons and forms), Henry Clark (third in weapons, first in forms and sparring), Zoe Halliday (second in weapons and forms), Maryam Islam (Cambourne Ladies, second in weapons and sparring, first in forms), Alex Chapman (Sawtry, second in forms, first in sparring), Gavin McNally (Northern TSD, third in weapons and second in forms.
