St Hockey Men’s and Women’s 1s continued their tough run of form, both being heavily beaten this weekend, writes Owen Edwards.
The Men’s 1s were involved in an entertaining first half away to Kettering 1s which saw the game tied 2-2 at the break.
Phil McMorris and Rory Jones scored the goals for Saints, while Sami Farrer saved a penalty flick down the other end.
In the second half, Kettering broke away and continued to scored throughout finishing 6-2 winners.
The Women’s 1s lost 5-1 away to Wisbech 1s to stretch their run without a win.
Wisbech took a three goal lead in at half time, before Hayley Doyle scored to pull one back midway through the second period.
Two further goals from the hosts wrapped up all three points.
The Men’s 2s lost for the first time this season to run away leaders Cambridge City 5s 3-0.
The Women’s 2s were narrowly defeated 4-3 to Ely City 1s.
Sue Glover opened the scoring for Saints before China Forsdick doubled the lead soon after.
After the break Ely responded with two goals, but a second from Forsdick regained the lead for Saints.
Ely fought back once more, scoring twice to take the lead for the first time in the game and snatch the points from Saints.
The Men’s 3s continued their excellent form with a 2-1 win over Spalding 4s
Joshua Billing’s goal gave St Neots the lead just before half time.
Spalding equalised midway through the second half, but Nick Hargrave found the winner for Saints in the final few minutes.
The Women’s 3s and 4s both picked up wins to continue their push up the league.
The 3s beat Cambridge City 7s 3-1, thanks to two goals from Isabelle Holmes and one from Vanessa Wilson.
A hat-trick from Sue Glover helped the 4s beat Long Sutton 2s 4-0, with Nicola Quincey scoring the other.
