Graham Mills reports on the UCL Premier Division South game between Eynesbury Rovers and Easington Sports on November 30.

Eynesbury Rovers recorded their third consecutive win to move up to tenth place in the league table.

They had to do it with 10 men for the final third of the match after Nathan Mullings picked up two quick yellow cards and was sent off in the 57th minute.

Victor Osobu netted a double to take his tally for the season to 18 but Rovers’ goalkeeper Sam Roach also played his part in the win with a penalty save early in the first half which could have drew Easington level.

Roach started his man-of-the-match performance with a save with his feet from a James Watts shot.

Later Ethan Champkins had a shot deflected behind for a corner and a 30 yard free kick by Callum Convey was saved by Roach.

However, just before half time Rovers took the lead. A superb cross-field pass from the halfway line by Jonny Hall found Reece King and he played the ball first time for Osobu to score with a low shot into the far corner of the goal.

Just two minutes into the second half Easington were offered a route back into the game when Roach was adjudged to have fouled Leam Howards.

The shot-stopper made amends though as he dived to his left to push Callum Convey’s penalty kick behind for a corner.

He was Eynesbury’s savior again just four minutes later as he denied Leam Howards who had just the keeper to beat.

Mullings was cautioned on 52 minutes for delaying a free kick and just five minutes later a tug on an Easington shirt saw him receive a second yellow.

Although playing with 10 men Rovers created more chances than Easington. A 28 yard free kick by Michael King was pushed into the air by visiting goalkeeper Max Treml but Richard Chadwick could only head the loose ball wide.

However, on 71 minutes Rovers doubled their lead. A long ball forward by Roach was picked up by Takula Chijota on the right flank and he played the ball inside for Osobu who scored with a shot from the edge of the box.

Further chances came to Michael King, Jonny Hall and Reece King but they couldn’t extend Rovers lead.

This victory was also down to some resolute defending as Eynesbury kept Easington at bay.

Despite playing against 10 men the visitors only managed one worthy goal attempt and that was a shot by James Watts that drifted wide of the target.

Next up for Rovers is a long away trip to play Hinckley AFC on Saturday, December 7, kick-off is 3pm.
